Position Summary
Job Description
The Senior Systems Engineer’s role is to assist with design, installation, administration, and optimization of company servers and systems. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the systems environment. Where applicable, the Senior Systems Engineer will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data centers and data within.
General Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop strategies for client/server implementations; implement solutions that support these systems.
- Maintain server infrastructure including but not limited to patching, upgrading and securing systems such as VMware, Citrix, Windows Server, Linux, Exchange, and M365/Azure components.
- Reviewing CVE’s and plan remediation when applicable, working with third parties and internal applications team to implement.
- Ensuring policies and procedures are met regarding user provisioning and terminations.
- Provide systems support as needed
- Evaluating and improving/implementing automated procedures.
- Provide evidence for audits such as SOX, FERC, and PCI.
- Provisioning cloud resources
- Evaluate business needs and recommend appropriate solutions
- Act as project lead in the implementation of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
- Coordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate and SCADA environments to meet business demands.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours support as needed
Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- PowerShell or other scripting languages
- Familiarity with VMware, Citrix XenApp & ADC, Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, Group Policy, MS Teams, SharePoint
- Azure and AWS experience preferred
- M365 and Exchange
- General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, SAS
- Knowledgeable about DNS, DFS, DHCP, SSL/TLS
- Experience with various on-premise and cloud Backup solutions and strategies.
- Develop and maintain lab and test environments.
- Experience with server performance tuning, data traffic analysis and monitoring tools.
- Experience with Cyber Security best practices for Corporate and SCADA environments.
- Knowledge of CMMS technologies.
Experience/Education:
- University degree in the field of computer science or management information systems or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Business process and reengineering experience, as well as an understanding of the relationship between processes and policies, is required.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required
- 3 years of equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing server environments is required.
Travel:
Travel to terminals and data centers when needed.
