Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Cyber Security Threat Intelligence Advisor within our Cyber Security Threat Intelligence & Analytics team based in Houston, TX.

The successful candidate will be a part of the Cyber Security Threat Intelligence & Analytics team and will be responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of cyber threat intelligence at Oxy. The role is also responsible for identifying, triaging, filtering, and documenting vulnerabilities and threats across the enterprise and working with business unit partners to resolve security matters in a timely manner. In addition, the chosen candidate will also be assigned to work as a part of the CSIRT during high severity cyber security incidents and events. Some essential functions of the role include, but are not limited to the following:

Essential Job Duties:

  • Collection and analysis of threat intelligence data from external feeds and internal sources.
  • Analyze new and emerging threats and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Prioritize critical threats and vulnerabilities and work with IT Governance, Risk and Compliance team to ensure remediation.
  • Identify and track threat actors and disseminate indicators of compromise to the Security Operations teams.
  • Perform technical analysis of tools, tactics and procedures used by adversaries during an attack.
  • Work with the Security Operations team to identify potential threats by analyzing security incidents and events.
  • Produce well written, clear and actionable intelligence reports at the strategic, operational and tactical levels.
  • Become part of the Cyber Security Incident Response Team during high severity security incidents.
  • Perform forensics analysis on end user devices and servers as part of insider threat investigations.
  • Stay abreast of geopolitical issues and determine their relevance to Oxy.
  • Work with sensitive and confidential information while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethics.
  • Other security-related projects that may be assigned according to skills.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates for this role must have direct experience with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / related area of study.
  • Strong ethics and professionalism.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Cyber Security with 1 or more years in the Threat Intelligence discipline.
  • Excellent collaboration and project management skills (Waterfall and/or Scrum).
  • The ability to obtain government clearance.
  • CISSP or GCTI certification is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of cyber threat intelligence analysis methods and the CTI lifecycle.
  • Experience using the Diamond Model of Intrusion analysis and understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of threat intelligence platforms such as Threat Connect or Anomali.
  • Ability to analyze logs from security tools such as Qradar, Nexpose, Ironport, and Cisco Threat Response.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CISSP or GCTI certification is highly desirable.
  • Malware analysis and mitigation techniques.
  • Forensics analysis.
  • Working knowledge of information sharing formats such as YARA and STIX/TAXII.
  • Experience in incident response, threat hunting and investigations.
  • Ability to track and manage large data sets.
  • Experience with Data Protection processes and Data Loss Prevention tools.
