Job Description

The Sr. Incident Response (IR) Handler, team lead, is a key member of the PepsiCo Cyber Fusion Center (CFC) responsible for analyzing, scoping, containing, providing guidance for remediation, and determining root cause of security incidents. The Sr. Incident Response Handler uses data analysis, threat intelligence, and cutting-edge security technologies to protect our company’s assets.

Provide expertise on incident response, forensic and malware analysis

  • Develop, document, and Implement runbooks, capabilities, and techniques for IR
  • Perform analysis on workstations, servers and network infrastructure
  • Identify and analyze malware using live forensics, hard drive forensics, sandboxes and reverse engineering
  • Identify indicators of compromise and apply them to the incident response process
  • Perform activities necessary for immediate containment and short-term resolution of incidents
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the threat landscape, emerging security threats, and vulnerabilities
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Coordinate and drive efforts during response activities and post-mortem
  • Participate in after hours on-call when required
  • Determine root cause of complex information security incidents


  • Bachelors degree in IT or similar field of study


  • 8+ years overall IT Infrastructure experience
  • 6+ years of recent operational security experience (SOC, Incident Response, Malware Analysis, IDS/IPS Analysis, etc.)
  • Experience performing the role of a technical lead in complex global security projects
  • Experience mentoring/training more junior analysts desired


  • In-depth knowledge of Linux/UNIX & Windows operating systems
  • In-depth experience with intrusion detection and prevention tools
  • In-depth knowledge of search techniques, alerts, dashboards, and report building
  • Detailed understanding of the TCP/IP networking stack & network technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of full packet analysis
  • Understanding of regular expressions and at least one common scripting language
  • Strong analytical skills for log analysis and root cause identification
  • Strong collaborative skills and proven ability to work in a diverse global team of security professionals
  • Strong verbal and written skills
